Clark's Bark: Welcome Tommy Macdonald!
By Dr. Andrea Johnson + Clark
I have some exciting news to share with you! We are welcoming Tommy Macdonald as our new CEO at PetVet365. He has a lot of experience leading purpose-driven businesses like ours and believes in our mission of putting our profession back in the hands of veterinarians.
Last week I had the opportunity to travel with Tommy to visit a couple hospitals in Cincinnati. Tommy was immediately impressed with the love that Dr. Wardell (and my son CJ) and all of our veterinarian owners have for their hospitals because they are truly THEIR hospitals.
Tommy looks forward to meeting everyone in the coming weeks. Most importantly, he believes in working closely with Bev, Jeff, Todd, Jen, Thom, Amy, my mom and all of our awesome docs to be vet owned, vet led and vet loved. Dr Marcum remains the wheel dog as Chairman of the Board. But don’t worry, he fully reports to me, the Chief Happiness Officer.
Wags,
Clark
Tech Tips: Imagyst & Phovia
From Alyssa Lipetz at PetVet365 Cool Creek
Imagyst: When the Imagyst gets oil overflow from the slides and sticks to the glass viewing stage, the easiest way to get the slide up without damaging your sample or the stand is to use a small piece of paper. Slide the paper under the corner and it will pop the slide up enough to grab!
Phovia: Use a damp towel to wipe off skin. Works so much better than the gauze!
New Payroll System
Woof Woof! We have something exciting to bark about! A new payroll system! As you are aware, we have changed over from using Paycor to Paycom as our new payroll system. Here you can see your schedule, submit time off requests, and even see your take home pay before pay day! While you are exploring the new system this week, please make sure to check that your information flowed over accurately and complete your Employee Checklist. If you have questions, reach out to your supervisor and thank you for helping us make this transition!

Hurricane Helene Donations
We want to pause and give heartfelt thanks to our incredible teams at Jefferson Ridge and Colerain for going above and beyond to support animals affected by Hurricane Helene. With tireless commitment, they drove countless miles to collect donations and supplies, showing what true compassion and community spirit look like.
Thanks to their efforts, they gathered essentials like dog and cat food, treats, litter, blankets, and so much more. Their selfless dedication is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together. 🧡
Fear Free Tip of the Month: Why Dentistry?
From Dr. Amanda Brumley at PetVet365 Brannon Crossing
Dentistry is not only essential for the health of our patients, but It's also a great way to boost revenue in our practices! Beyond that, it ties perfectly into a fear-free approach, helping us reduce FAS in our patients. We like to set up all of our high FAS patients for success with once yearly needle pokes with dental cleaning. We can incorporate Proheart12 (or oral monthly prevention) and once yearly bordetella to help keep them on a yearly preventive care schedule. Doing everything under sedation helps keep their stress levels low and gives them a more positive experience overall. For those high FAS patients, this approach allows their six-month visit to be a true victory, free from the anxiety of vaccines or blood draws. It’s a win-win: healthier pets and happier clients with a smoother, less stressful workflow!
Head to Tails with Dr. Jessica Abernathy
Role: PetVet365 Eagle Creek Owner
Tell us about your pets: Kyland - 8 yr old German Shepherd. His job changed the second we brought our daughter home from the hospital 4.5 years ago. He always wants a ball in his mouth
Uschi - 3 yr old German Shepherd. She loves running outside and playing in muddy puddles just like “Peppa Pig.”
Beau - 1.5 yr year old Heinz 57 who came to us in January. My niece saved him from a bad situation and now he is becoming the face of PetVet365 Eagle Creek.
Best Thing about PetVet365: People first. I have never worked anywhere before that I was able to take off if my daughter was sick or just to take a mental day. We can’t take care of the pets, if we can’t take care of ourselves.
What do you do daily that brings you joy: Being out on the road doing large animal work as well. I am able to take my family on calls with me whenever I want and I get to see the joy in my daughter’s face when I say she can come with me to work.
Favorite indulgence: Ice cream and chocolate
What do you want people to know about you: My goal is to be an approachable boss, with listening ears who gets all sides of the story before making any conclusions. I don’t want employees to be scared to approach me, even if that means they just need someone they can trust to lend an ear in a difficult time.
Something you would like to give to others: My goal every day is to make at least one person laugh.

What do you do daily that brings you joy: Read while sitting outside most mornings. Running with the husky – most mornings.
Favorite indulgence: TexMex Food – I haven’t met a taco or a bowl of queso that I don’t like.
What do you want people to know about you: I’m passionate about helping/serving others. The human-animal bond is my “why”.
